Last weekend was the first time I went on a trip with not a thing on my to-do list. Ever since I typed the first sentence on Sarah L. Travels, there is always a list of attractions in my mind. That first year, I was a sponge, eager to learn from the best.
The challenge, though, for bloggers in this niche is that you’re retelling an experience in the hopes that enough people will want to follow what you’re advising they do in a foreign (to them and also to you) destination. When thinking about strangers on the internet and how best to “serve” them, being in the moment is an afterthought.
As I stood in my tiny 1940s galley kitchen, I bought this plane ticket on a normal Monday. And in that instant, I knew this trip was not about me, Chicago, and it definitely wasn’t about “content.”
